The fees in the above table are list prices referring to translations from a foreign language into Hungarian or from Hungarian into a foreign language. In the case of translations from a foreign language into another foreign language, the list prices add up.

Extra cost charged for the quantity of translations

• Basic quantity: maximum daily 15,000 characters including spaces in the target language in the case of translating ordinary texts (the basic quantity does not refer to order type prices defined on a “by piece” basis).

• Surcharge for extra quantity: daily quantity within the performance deadline:

Character calculation method for special languages

For the following languages we use special multipliers to count characters:

• Hebrew: 1.5

• Japanese: 2.0

• Chinese and Korean: 2.8

Certified copies

Certified copy

 At our Clients’ request, we issue multiple copies of completed certified translations, or, after collection, a certified copy equivalent to the certified translation, under the following conditions:

At the time of ordering

• for documents with a foreign-language source text, upon payment of a copy fee of HUF 5,000 + VAT per copy and the certification fee;

• for documents with a Hungarian source text, the original document must be submitted and a collation fee of HUF 550 + VAT per page, a copy fee of HUF 5,000 + VAT and the certification fee must be paid;

• if, during collation, the difference between the Hungarian-language documents is less than 20%, the translation may be accepted with revision. If the difference exceeds 20%, the translation may only be accepted as a new order.

   

Copies may only be issued subsequently

• to the original Client, or to a person authorised by the Client, or to the Client’s legal successor;

• only for documents with a foreign-language source text;

• if the original translation can be found in the electronic case management system, upon payment of a copy fee of HUF 5,000 per copy and the certification fee;

• if the order can no longer be found in the case management system, but the Client has at least a copy of the original certified translation, the order may be fulfilled subject to the charging of revision, editing and certification fees.

Notarial service

When ordering a certified translation, pursuant to the applicable legal regulations, our Office is only authorised to certify photocopies of foreign-language documents. Certified copies of Hungarian-language documents submitted for translation may only be prepared by a notary public.

Detailed information on our additional fees

Minimum translation rate for one certified translation: HUF 5,000 + VAT (gross HUF 6,350) + certification fee.

Cancellation fee: HUF 5,000 + VAT (gross HUF 6,350) + all costs until the time of cancellation (translation, revision, etc.)

Postal charge: OFFI Ltd charges postage for orders to be delivered by post.

In case of certified translations, if the original document is submitted or presented subsequently, our Company charges a collating fee for HUF 550 + VAT (gross HUF 699) per source-language page.

If it turns out that the copy of the source-language document submitted for translation when placing the order and the original document provided afterwards vary in any aspect, OFFI shall be entitled to recharge the full revision fee.

Handling fee: as per points II/A and III of the General Terms and Conditions (GTC), OFFI Ltd charges a handling fee in the following cases:

• In case any problems arise regarding the authenticity of the document after placing the order for its certified translation and OFFI Ltd. withdraws from the agreement, a handling fee equalling the cancellation fee shall be charged together with the annulment of the order.

• A handling fee of monthly HUF 500 + VAT (gross HUF 635) is charged for translations completed but not received until their reception.”

Prices of and pricing certified revision (attestation of translations)

Translations made by other translators or translating agencies and translations made earlier by OFFI but not yet attested may be subsequently attested. The prerequisite of attestation of translations submitted by Clients is revision (professional and linguistic check) by OFFI. The original document and its editable translation must be submitted electronically for such revision.

Most common languages: English, German and French

It must be noted that translations made by other translators from birth, marriage and death certificates (used for registration purposes) and documents used for personal identification cannot be submitted for revision only, in order to apply the principle of uniform translation.

Certified translation into English and German of the original copies of new-type Hungarian-language secondary school certificates of final examination issued from 2005 onwards, and of “certificate” documents issued as supplements to secondary school certificates of final examination, as well as their copies made in the target language and certified by a notary public.

The certified translation of documents used in simplified naturalisation procedure

Certified translation of documents used in simplified naturalisation procedure
In order to facilitate the acquisition of the Hungarian citizenship of those applying for simplified naturalisation, OFFI Ltd. undertakes the translation of standard documents (i.e. birth, death and marriage certificates in Croatian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Romanian, and Ukrainian) into Hungarian and submitted after 01 January 2011 for a fixed fee of HUF 8,800 + VAT (gross HUF 11,176) within 3 days and for HUF 9,800 + VAT (gross HUF 12,446) within 1 day. In case of translating other documents (types not included in the above list of standardized documents), calculations are based on the gross number of characters in the target language.

At the Client’s request, OFFI Ltd. prepares a certified copy of the translation for a uniform preferential rate of HUF 3,500 + VAT (gross HUF 4,445) per copy.

OFFI Ltd. undertakes to attach a clause on name-bearing free of charge using the Client’s declaration on name-bearing; therein the Hungarian name is displayed which may be given to the Client in the change of name procedure based on the documents available.

OFFI Ltd. reserves the right to request an advance at the placement of the order in accordance with the order sheet.

Certified translation of documents with Hungarian notarization

In the certified translations of Hungarian documents annexed with a Hungarian-language notarization, the text of the Hungarian notarization clause – if not required by the place of use – does not have to be translated, it is sufficient to display the following in the certified translation: “The document contains a copy attestation clause.” This entails no extra charge for you.
