Technical translations are executed exclusively by translators with technical translator qualifications.

Information/Glossary of Terms

Technical text
Texts in the field of particular branches of science, profession or technical area which cannot be translated without specific knowledge of the given subject. Note that ‘technical’ does not only mean ‘technological’ – texts in the field of medicine, environment, accounting, etc. are also technical.

Attested revision
Also known as editing, revision is the linguistic and technical checking and correction of the translation prepared by the customer or OFFI.

Prices and pricing for attested revision of translations prepared by the customer (Attestation of translations)
Attestation of translations submitted by the customer is subject to language and technical editing also known as revision by OFFI. The submission of the original source document(s) and the editable translation in an electronic format is required for the revision.

Since attestation of translations made by others of documents referring to personal status (used in registration procedures) and of personal identification documents is not possible, OFFI cannot accept them for revision.

• Basic net price for attested revision: HUF 3.0 per character + VAT (gross: HUF 3.81)
• Revision HUF 1.8 Ft per character + VAT (gross: HUF 2.286)
• Formatting HUF 0.6 per character + VAT (gross: HUF 0.762)
• Proofreading HUF 0.6 per character + VAT (gross:HUF 0.762)

Calculation of charges is based on the number of target-language characters (number of characters = number of letters, digits and spaces).

Attestation fee: HUF 1,800 per attestation

Duty stamp: HUF 300 per page

The basic price is applicable for documents not exceeding 15,000 characters in the target language. The indicated prices do not include postal delivery charges. The charges and the expected costs depend on the following factors:

• Language category
• Urgency and length
• Difficulty of text
• Other charges

The number of target language characters is multiplied by the following factors in the case of the languages below:

• Hebrew 1.5
• Japanese 2.0
• Chinese and Korean 2.8

Difficulty of text
Translation of special technical texts involves an extra charge of 50%. The category of special texts includes, but is not limited to, for instance:

• medical texts (medical reports, hospital discharge reports, autopsy reports, etc.),
• technical texts (instruction manual, user’s guide, etc.),
• property valuations,
• forensic expert reports,
• laws and law certificates,
• standards and patent documents,
• licence agreements,
• documents prior to 1945,
• other documents based on separate assessment.

Other charges
The minimum charge of one order is: HUF 3,500 + VAT (gross: HUF 4,445) + attestation fee + duty. Cancellation fee: HUF 3,500 + VAT (gross: HUF 4,445) and all costs incurred up to the time of cancellation (translation, revision, etc.)
